Storyboards is my Senior Thesis Project and truly serves as a perfect accumulation of the knowledge I acquired during my time at West Chester University. This project from conceptualization to designing and branding all the way to construction challenged me to rise above countless challenges and pushed me to create a one of a kind interactive project. The project is a game company that brings family style board games to a whole new level. Each game is designed to drop you into the middle of a different Fairy Tale full of creatures, traps, and tasks set before you. As the various games are played, players will be able to alter the story, create their own ending, and play as various characters. This design allows for each game to offer multiple ways to play, each time being completely different than the last.
I custom engineered and designed these game boards to be unlike any other. My unique design allows for the board games to be transported and stored in a box designed to take the appearance of a book utilizing reclaimed wood for its construction. These Storyboard Games perfectly fit on a bookcase and with the flip of a switch the Storyboards box spring-loads open, unfolding and revealing the game board within. The exterior of these products feature engraved panels displaying the characters of the game, within as well, the basic information pertaining to each game. Upon opening the box players are greeted with a removable insert containing the various pieces needed for each game as well as a colorfully illustrated game board symbolizing the players entry into the world of the story they are about to partake in.
Every game piece featured throughout is of my own original design ranging from 3D Printed Character Game Pieces, build-able structures made of both wood and plastic, and even the games themselves. Each game is presented with a functional instruction/rule book and dozens of playable cards making this project not only visually stunning but 100% playable. The three games I designed are Piggy Pursuit, Cracked and Conquered, and Hoodwinker.
Piggy Pursuit
(2-8 Players)
How will you and your fellow pigs outrun the Big Bad Wolf? Will you work together to avoid being part of dinner or will you throw your fellow pigs to the wolf to ensure your own survival? In Piggy Pursuit players have the choice to play out the story as the Wolf or one of the Pigs each with their own unique game play and ability’s. Navigate your way through the woods, strategize and push forward, because the cabin at the end of the trail can serve as salvation or certain doom.
Cracked & Conquered
(2-5 Players)
High in his castle King Humpty continues to fortify his defenses while the surrounding kingdoms unite against him. Whose side shall you serve? The four kingdoms must work together, build their offense, and knock King Humpty from his fortress. Will you stand among the four kingdoms fighting to liberate a fractured society under a rotten king, or shall you place your allegiance with King Humpty and help protect the kingdom that is rightfully his. As King Humpty you will build forth your fortress and work to stop anyone who stands before you. Siding with your friends however, you will work together as the four kingdoms, to bring a stop to the rotten king.
Hoodwinker
(3-8 Players)
Deep in the dark forest, surrounded by strange creatures, things are not always as they seem. Playing alongside your friends and family has never been more concerning, for one of you is hiding a terrible secret. Can you work together to solve this mystery or will you fall victim to this dangerous game. As an Innocent, you and your fellow players must work together, collect the clues and solve the mystery but there is a twist, for someone among you is a wolf, lying about their identity and trying to turn everyone against each other. As the Trickster your task is to lie, cheat and steal. Do whatever you can to avoid being detected and simply slip by without drawing attention to yourself. Will you and your friends solve the mystery, or will you let the Hoodwinker get away?
